Welcome to the Mom Blog Money Blog Series! For 30 days we are following the Mom Blog Money Blog Workshop (affiliate link) sharing some tips so that we can work through the steps and grow together. Grab your coffee, have a seat, and join us.
In Day 8 of the series we focused on using a blog post template. Today we are going to talk about…
Creating High Traffic with High Interest
One of my favorite quotes from Laurie is in this day’s task:
“Never second guess a fun idea.” – Laurie Turk, Mom Blog to Money Blog Online Workshop
It is easy once you get into the schedule of regular blogging to overlook WHY you started in the first place…
It will be fun!
And then after posting on a regular basis and trying to keep up with the fact that new days show up every 24 hours, it sometimes feels like this…
Crap. I have to come up with a post ASAP!
Step back a moment and remember the fun in blogging. What types of posts do you LOVE to read on your favorite blogs? What blog event sounds like fun?
On my personal blog, I used to host a weekly potlucks. Always on Mondays.
It was a little inside joke with my readers. It wasn’t anything special, just left-overs that hadn’t fit in other posts.
BUT it had its own button and a lot of inside silliness and Monday’s around my blog were special because they held the promise of a potluck.
What sounds fun to you?
Likely what sounds fun to you will be fun for your readers. Once you come up with an idea, then brand it!
Make an image and add it to your editorial calendar.
Rinse and repeat.
It is the internet afterall. No idea is too silly.
Never second guess a fun idea.
Period.
Be sure to check out this Google Hangout with Holly, Laurie, Jessica and Randi where they talk about the 12-month editorial calendar and how to find high interest blog post topics.
What fun ideas can you think of for your blog?
Don’t miss Day 10 which is focused on working smarter, not harder.

Sometimes the most spur of the moment ideas are the ones that end up doing the best on my site.
Crazy, hua?
This hangout is so inspiring and helpful, Holly and Laurie!! A million thanks. I have a lot of organizing ahead of me, and your ideas have me setting up a 1-year calendar as I type this.
I have been guilty of second guessing ideas in the past. I am not sure why, I am sure that readers would enjoy them! Unfortunately I cannot remember now what those ideas were or else I would post them now. From now on I plan to change my “no this is silly” or “ah nobody will want to read that” into “I’m going to blog about this!”
