Google Webmaster Tools are important for you to have setup for your blog’s SEO. The purpose of Webmaster Tools is to allow you to see your site the way Google does. This way you know how your site is being indexed and whether or not there are any errors that needs to be fixed.

Here are 6 tools that will help you seal the deal with Webmaster Tools on your blog.

1. Claim Your Blog

Webmaster Tools is a really important aspect of blogging and to help your blog work for you…you should claim it in Webmaster Tools.

2. Add a Sitemap

Once you’ve claimed your blog you should create a Sitemap. And guess what? Laurie offers an awesome video that shows how to do this too!

Just these first two steps alone will help search engines see and understand the content of your blog better, which will help increase your traffic.

3. Take note of who’s linking to you

If someone is stealing your feed and using it on their site to make money for themselves…you need to know! Stay aware of this by setting up Google Alerts for certain terms relevant to your blog (e.g. your blog’s name and your name).

5. Check for broken links

6. Re-direct a blog post

Laurie explains how using a WordPress plug-in can help you to re-direct the post link so it works properly and gets your readers where they need to go.
